
Madurai's Vaigai River North Bank Road is experiencing severe traffic congestion, shifting from previously decongested arterial roads. A four-road junction near Thathaneri, connecting the North Bank Road, Jayalalithaa Bridge, and Thathaneri Main Road, has become a major bottleneck. Increased vehicle volume, particularly from Sellur towards Arapalayam and vice-versa, is overwhelming the junction's design capacity, leading to extensive traffic pile-ups on the bridge and the road.
