Indian Coast Guard Evacuates Fishers Rescued After Collision Off Tamil Nadu Coast

On March 7, 2026, the fishing boat St Joseph, carrying 11 fishers from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, collided with the Vietnam-flagged merchant ship MS Solis off Colachel, Tamil Nadu, after anchoring in a busy shipping lane. The MS Solis crew rescued nine fishers, who were evacuated by the Indian Coast Guard vessel Anagh to Vizhinjam harbour, Kerala, and taken for medical care. Two fishers remain missing, and the fishing boat was destroyed in the collision.
