
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh experienced a significant precipitation deficit of over 39% in the last quarter of 2025, receiving 77.5 mm of rain against a normal of 127.7 mm. Despite some snowfall in December, this was insufficient to offset earlier dry spells. Shopian and Kistwar districts recorded the highest deficits. Forecasters anticipate continued dry weather for at least the next two weeks, with no strong Western Disturbances expected.
