Kashmir is experiencing an intensified cold wave during the 'Chilla-i-Kalan' period, with minimum temperatures dropping significantly below freezing. Shopian recorded the lowest at minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, while Srinagar registered minus 5.2 degrees Celsius. Clear skies and sub-zero temperatures have led to the partial freezing of Dal Lake and other water bodies. Despite the harsh cold, the plains have not yet received significant snowfall this season, with dry and sunny days contrasting with frigid nights.
