Norway's King Harald, 89, is currently hospitalized in Tenerife with a serious skin infection on his leg but is reported to be in stable condition and responding well to treatment, according to his personal physician Bjorn Bendz. The royal palace stated that close monitoring is necessary due to the king's age, with further updates expected. King Harald, who has been Norway's ceremonial head of state since 1991, was previously hospitalized in 2024 for an infection and received a pacemaker. His illness coincides with challenges facing the royal family, including scrutiny of Crown Princess Mette-Marit's associations and legal issues involving her son.
