
A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck offshore near Japan's Noda region on Wednesday, at a depth of approximately 19.3 km. The United States Geological Survey reported the tremor. Earlier, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred off the Tokara Islands in southern Kagoshima prefecture on November 30, at a depth of 10 km. No tsunami was expected for either event.
