Kashmir and Ladakh Freeze as Severe Cold Grips Region, Sub-Zero Temperatures Persist

Kashmir and Ladakh are experiencing severe cold with sub-zero temperatures causing parts of the Dal Lake and other water bodies to freeze. Srinagar recorded a low of -5.2°C, while Shopian was the coldest at -7.5°C. This harsh winter spell, known as 'Chilla-i-Kalan', is expected to continue, though a western disturbance approaching on January 16 and potential snowfall from January 19-24 might bring some changes. Ladakh's Leh recorded a low of -11.4°C.
