Two rare giant oarfish, deep-sea creatures typically found around 1,000 meters below the surface, were spotted near a beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The unusual sighting surprised tourists and quickly spread on social media. While local folklore and some cultures associate oarfish appearances with impending disasters, scientists state there is no evidence linking these events to calamities. Attempts by witnesses to return the fish to deeper waters were unsuccessful, and the fish died.
