IMD Issues Weather Alerts for Thunderstorms and Rain in Kolkata and West Bengal

The India Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts for Kolkata, Hooghly, and several West Bengal districts due to expected thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds through March 21. Kolkata and surrounding areas may experience intermittent rain, strong winds up to 70 kmph, lightning, and possible hail early in the week, followed by a brief dry spell midweek before showers return. Temperatures are forecast to range between 22°C and 34°C during this period.
