Groundwater levels in Himachal Pradesh have generally risen, indicating improved water security amidst climate uncertainty and development. However, the Central Ground Water Board's latest assessment reveals persistent stress in specific valleys and urbanizing areas. While over 89% of the state shows groundwater within 20 meters depth, deeper levels exceeding this mark are noted in parts of Una, Sirmaur, Solan, and Kangra districts, highlighting uneven availability due to high extraction and local geology.
