
Indonesian authorities located the wreckage of an ATR 42-500 fisheries surveillance plane that went missing on January 17, 2026, near Mount Bulusaraung in South Sulawesi. The aircraft, operated by Indonesia Air Transport and chartered by the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Ministry, carried eight crew members and three ministry staff. Rescue teams, hindered by fog and rugged terrain, have recovered one body and continue searching for the remaining passengers and crew, deploying over 1,200 personnel to the site.
