Uttar Pradesh is experiencing a cold wave with minimum temperatures dropping below 4°C in several western districts like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Bareilly, causing frost and dense fog in parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department forecasts a gradual temperature rise of 3-6°C starting January 15 due to successive western disturbances, bringing relief from the cold wave. However, fog density and coverage are expected to increase, with light rain or drizzle possible from January 18-19, potentially causing temporary temperature dips.
