A 2,700-year-old Olmec artifact, the "Portal to the Underworld" mask depicting the jaguar god Tepeyollotlicuhti, has been recovered after being stolen in the early 20th century. The six-by-five-foot artifact, looted from Chalcatzingo, Morelos, Mexico, traveled through various museums and private collections before reaching Denver in 2023. Authorities in New York secured the statue, facilitating its return to its original location.
