On March 2, an oleum (fuming sulphuric acid) gas leak occurred at Bhageria Chemicals Company in Palghar district's MIDC D-Zone industrial area near Salwad and Pasthal villages. Emergency teams, including fire brigade and district administration, responded promptly, evacuating 458 people as a precaution. Some individuals reported minor eye irritation, with a few admitted to local hospitals in stable condition. Authorities advised residents to avoid the area, follow safety protocols, and seek medical help if exposed. Efforts to contain the leak are ongoing, with the situation reported under control.
