Mumbai's local train services faced significant disruptions on December 27 and 28 due to a major 30-day engineering block between Kandivli and Borivli. Western Railway cancelled over 300 trains daily, including AC locals, to facilitate the construction of a sixth railway line and the commissioning of an Electronic Interlocking panel at Borivli. Central Railway also announced service impacts. The block, which began on December 20, will continue until January 18, affecting express trains and closing platforms 8 and 9 at Borivali.
