Bolivian Military Cargo Plane Crashes Near La Paz, Killing at Least 15

A Bolivian Air Force Hercules cargo plane carrying newly printed banknotes crashed on February 27 near El Alto, adjacent to the capital La Paz. The aircraft skidded off the runway amid poor weather, striking about a dozen vehicles on a busy avenue before coming to rest in a field. At least 15 people were killed and around 30 injured, including both crew and civilians. Scattered banknotes at the crash site led to chaotic scenes, with authorities dispersing crowds. The El Alto International Airport was temporarily closed, and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
