A fire broke out around 2 pm on March 4 in a cluster of eight to nine shops near Madhyamgram railway station in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. The blaze, fueled by LPG cylinder explosions, primarily affected food outlets, including a sweetmeat shop where one employee died. Three fire tenders extinguished the fire, which disrupted traffic temporarily but posed no threat to the railway station or train operations. Separate recent fires in Kolkata were also reported but unrelated.
