The Tribune: India's Oldest Daily Newspaper Established in 1881PreviousNext

The Tribune, India's oldest daily English-language newspaper, was first published on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). Except for a brief 40-day interruption after Partition, it has been published continuously for over 145 years. Founded by philanthropist Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, the paper is managed by a five-member Trust and is known for its independent, objective reporting with an emphasis on restraint and moderation. It also publishes sister editions in Punjabi and Hindi.
