Uttar Pradesh is experiencing severe cold and dense fog, leading to a "very dense" fog engulfing the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Red Alerts for 24 districts and Orange Alerts for 21 others, warning of visibility dropping to less than 50 meters and "zero visibility" in some areas. This has significantly impacted transportation, causing slow movement on expressways and delays of 4 to 10 hours for many trains. "Cold day to severe cold day" conditions are also forecast for eastern Uttar Pradesh.
