Himachal Pradesh is experiencing light snowfall in higher reaches, particularly in Lahaul and Spiti districts, following a prolonged dry spell. The State Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy snow and rain on January 23, linked to two Western Disturbances expected from January 19 and 21. Snowfall accumulations of 2-4 inches are forecast in higher areas, with risks of slippery roads and landslides during snowmelt. Most lower regions remain dry with above-normal temperatures.
