Kashmir welcomed the New Year with fresh snowfall in popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg, as well as higher reaches. The meteorological department predicted improving weather conditions. Despite the snow, night temperatures remained above freezing and the region is experiencing an unusually warm winter, with temperatures significantly above seasonal averages. Gulmarg was the coldest spot, while other areas also recorded higher-than-normal minimum temperatures.
