
A head-on collision between two tourist trains near Peru's Machu Picchu on Tuesday resulted in at least one fatality and dozens of injuries. The deceased was identified as a train driver or railroad worker. Approximately 30 to 40 passengers were injured, with some in serious condition, including foreign tourists. The crash involved trains operated by Inca Rail and PeruRail on the single track connecting Ollantaytambo to the famed archaeological site. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by police.
