Kefir, a probiotic-rich fermented drink, may help improve digestion by reducing bloating, gas, and constipation, according to US gastroenterologist Dr. Joseph Salhab. It contains calcium, protein, vitamin B, and diverse beneficial bacteria, often more than regular yogurt. Kefir's fermentation process can reduce lactose content, potentially aiding those with lactose intolerance. To enhance its tangy flavor, Dr. Salhab recommends blending kefir with antioxidant-rich berries like blueberries or strawberries, which also add fiber and polyphenols.
