A 53-year-old man has remained symptom-free for six years following an autograft cartilage tissue transplant in 2018 for severe knee osteoarthritis. The fifth-generation arthroscopic procedure, performed at MGM Healthcare Malar, Adyar, involves harvesting healthy cartilage from the patient's own joint and transplanting it to the damaged area in a single stage. This technique aims to preserve the natural knee joint, allows immediate walking post-surgery, and avoids the need for implants or intensive physiotherapy, potentially delaying total knee replacement.
