
A chest surgeon warns that indoor air pollution in Indian homes can be more dangerous than outdoor pollution due to poor ventilation and trapped pollutants. Dr. Harsh Vardhan Puri stated that one mosquito coil burned in a closed room can be equivalent to smoking approximately 100 cigarettes in terms of particulate matter. He emphasized that the invisible nature of indoor pollutants, including cooking fumes and incense, poses a significant, often unnoticed, risk to lung health over prolonged exposure.
