Cold weather and the possibility of snowfall in the upper reaches of Sikkim and Darjeeling hills have led to a significant increase in tourist arrivals since Christmas. Hotels and homestays, particularly in North Sikkim, are reportedly fully booked, with thousands visiting popular spots like Nathu-la pass and Tsomgo Lake. This influx has caused some traffic congestion. Temperatures have dropped, with locations recording lows around five to seven degrees Celsius.
