A new study published in JAMA Network Open suggests that physical activities like bending, pushing, and twisting may temporarily trigger lower back pain flare-ups. However, researchers found these activities are unlikely to cause long-term damage or functional limitations. Over 400 participants were surveyed over a year, indicating that while certain movements increase the risk of short-term pain flares, they do not correlate with worse outcomes a year later. Sitting was associated with a lower risk of flare-ups.
