Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), visited his father Ziaur Rahman's grave in Dhaka shortly after returning from 19 years of self-imposed exile. This marked his first public appearance since 2006 and revived attention to the 1981 assassination of Ziaur Rahman, a former president and army chief. Rahman was killed by mid-ranking army officers during an official visit to Chittagong, an attack that lasted less than 20 minutes.
