Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid homage at the Assam Agitation memorial in Guwahati. The recently inaugurated Rs 170 crore memorial honors the 860 martyrs of the six-year movement that concluded in 1985, aimed at removing illegal immigrants. It features a perpetual lamp, a martyrs' gallery with busts, water bodies, an auditorium, and a prayer hall, and will host a sound and light show detailing the agitation and Assam's history.
