The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police are enhancing their commando unit and training infrastructure due to the islands' strategic importance. This includes inaugurating 10 new commando obstacles at the Police Training School to improve physical, mental, and tactical preparedness for recruits and in-service personnel. Previously, training required travel to the mainland. The force currently has 121 commandos and plans to establish a women's commando unit in the future. These upgrades aim to better handle law and order, disaster response, and emergencies.
