The Ministry of Education has directed Tezpur University Vice-Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh to go on immediate leave pending an inquiry into allegations of financial, administrative, and ecological irregularities. This decision follows nearly three months of protests by students and faculty, who recently marked 100 days of agitation with a hunger strike. A three-member panel, headed by Manipur University VC N Lokendra Singh, will investigate the claims and submit a report within three months. Amrendra Kumar Das from IIT Guwahati has been appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor.
