Himachal Congress to Finalize Rajya Sabha Candidate Ahead of March 16 Election

Himachal Pradesh Congress will hold a Legislative Party meeting on March 5 to finalize its Rajya Sabha candidate for the March 16 election, filling the seat vacated by BJP MP Indu Goswami. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the candidate will be a local leader, reflecting MLAs' preference against outsiders. Despite a clear majority, Congress remains cautious after losing the 2024 election due to cross-voting. BJP may contest only if Congress fields an outsider. Neither party has announced candidates yet.
