Maharashtra's government has mandated paid leave for employees to vote in the January 15 municipal elections. Employers must grant a full day's paid leave or a minimum of two to three hours off for those in essential services. This directive applies to all establishments, including private ones, to ensure maximum voter participation and protect democratic rights. Employees posted outside their registered municipal corporation jurisdiction are also entitled to a paid holiday.
