Delhi University has proposed renaming Dyal Singh Evening College after Sikh warrior Banda Singh Bahadur, announced by Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh in December. The college's staff association opposes the move, citing lack of consultation and concerns over preserving the legacy of Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, the college's namesake. The staff association warns that the name change could breach agreements with the Dyal Singh College Trust and lead to administrative complications. The proposal awaits consideration by the University Executive Council.
