Residents of Arumuganeri have renewed their 35-year-old demand to merge 10 town panchayat wards, currently under Kayalpattinam south revenue village, with Arumuganeri revenue village. They cite hardships caused by the current administrative division. Separately, residents from Mappillaiyoorani, led by a BJP representative, petitioned for the issuance of free house site pattas to eligible individuals who were previously excluded from records.
