BMC Election Aftermath: Shinde Sena Moves Corporators to Hotel Amid Mayoral Power Talks

Following the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena secured 29 seats, together crossing the majority mark of 114. To safeguard against defections amid ongoing power-sharing talks, Shinde's faction moved its newly elected corporators to a luxury hotel in Bandra. Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT), which won 65 seats, expressed hope for securing the mayoral post, with both sides engaging in political negotiations ahead of the mayoral election expected after January 26, following a reservation lottery process.
