Uttarakhand Opens 83 Himalayan Peaks for Mountaineering, Waives Fees for Indian Climbers

Uttarakhand has opened 83 major Himalayan peaks, ranging from 5,700 to 7,756 meters, for mountaineering expeditions across the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. Indian climbers are exempt from expedition fees, while foreign climbers pay only Indian Mountaineering Foundation fees. This initiative, directed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and coordinated by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council and Forest Department, aims to boost adventure tourism, promote youth participation, create local employment, and support environmental conservation.
