The Himachal Pradesh government has mandated the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in commercial, public, semi-public buildings, and real estate projects as part of the Town and Country Planning (17th and 18th Amendment) Rules, 2026. This aligns with model building bye-laws and supports the state's green energy goals. Buildings over 750 square metres complying with the Energy Conservation Building Code can receive additional Floor Area Ratio (FAR) incentives. Developers must engage Bureau of Energy Efficiency-authorised auditors to ensure compliance before occupancy certificates are issued. Premium FAR fees range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 7,000 per square metre, applicable to new and ongoing projects but exempting completed ones.
