The Tamil Nadu government has simplified the process for planning permission applications in notified hill areas under the Hill Area Conservation Authority (HACA). The new regulations exempt the requirement for a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Revenue Divisional Officer, as revenue details can be verified online. Change of land use proposals up to two hectares in urban and four hectares in rural hill areas will follow procedures similar to non-HACA areas. Proposals exceeding these limits must be reviewed by the HACA committee. NOCs from the Forest and Geology Mines Departments remain mandatory for all change of land use proposals and developments conforming to the approved Master Plan. Previously obtained NOCs for land use changes are valid for layout developments, removing the need for additional clearances.
