The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) has directed the Thane Collector to pay compensation to a Kurla resident whose plot was acquired for the Mumbai-Vadodara Ramay Alignment project. The complainant, Mohd Shaikh, alleged his house and shop were taken for the project without any compensation, leaving him without income. The MSHRC noted the Collector failed to conduct a requested inquiry or appear, thus accepting the claim that the property was acquired without compensation. The Collector is ordered to pay fair compensation as per the 2013 Land Acquisition Act.
