West Bengal Rajya Sabha Elections Feature TMC and BJP Candidate Nominations

West Bengal's Rajya Sabha elections on March 16 will fill five seats. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) nominated state minister Babul Supriyo, former police chief Rajeev Kumar, Supreme Court lawyer Menaka Guruswamy, and actor Koel Mallick, highlighting diversity and professional experience. Menaka Guruswamy's nomination is noted for potentially making her the first openly LGBTQ Parliament member. The BJP nominated former state party chief Rahul Sinha, leveraging its 75 assembly seats to secure his election. Congress and Left parties are not contesting due to lack of assembly representation.
