The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of 144 candidates for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, including senior leader Suvendu Adhikari contesting from both Bhabanipur and Nandigram. Bhabanipur is currently represented by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, setting up a high-profile rematch after Adhikari defeated her in Nandigram in 2021. The elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29, with results announced on May 4. Other notable BJP candidates include Agnimitra Paul and Dilip Ghosh.
