Delhi Launches Rs 473-Crore Performance-Based Streetlight Modernisation Project
The Delhi government has launched a Rs 473-crore project to modernise around 93,000 streetlights on main roads using a monthly instalment-based payment model linked to performance. Contractors will install and maintain smart LED streetlights with real-time monitoring, facing penalties for non-functionality. The system will enable remote control, dimming, and synchronous blinking for special occasions. A similar model will be applied to expand and replace CCTV cameras, aiming to improve accountability and reduce power consumption.
