Nagaland Groups Protest Ministry Directive Mandating 'Vande Mataram' at Events

Students and tribal organizations in Nagaland have protested the Ministry of Home Affairs' directive mandating the singing of 'Vande Mataram' at official events. At Nagaland University's convocation, students boycotted the song, citing cultural and religious sensitivities. The Nagaland Tribal Hohos Coordination Committee urged the state assembly to uphold Article 371A, which protects local religious and social practices, emphasizing respect for the national anthem while opposing compulsory rendition of the song.
