Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah, a rapper-turned-politician, has joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by former TV host Rabi Lamichhane. The alliance ahead of Nepal's March 5 parliamentary election positions Shah as the prime ministerial candidate if the RSP wins, while Lamichhane remains party chief. Both leaders aim to address concerns from September's youth-led protests against corruption, which resulted in 77 deaths and the resignation of the previous prime minister. Analysts suggest this move strategically targets young voters.
