
The Government of Assam signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Airports Authority of India to conduct pre-feasibility studies for five new greenfield airports at Manas National Park, Umrangshu, Majuli, Diphu, and Charaideo. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that these airports aim to enhance regional connectivity, boost tourism and local economies, and address strategic concerns. He also requested upgrading Rupsi Airport and improving international connectivity from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
