
Karnataka is formulating a civil aviation policy to address challenges faced by district airports, which often become financially unviable after the three-year UDAN scheme period. Minister M.B. Patil highlighted plans to extend UDAN support to five years and propose joint Centre-State funding thereafter. A meeting under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will discuss the proposed Ballari airport's location and benefits for Ballari, Koppal, and Vijayanagara districts. The policy aims to ensure airport viability, drawing on models from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
