
The Punjab government has approved the introduction of Digital Electronic Ticketing Machines in state-run buses to modernize public transport and promote cashless travel. The GPS-enabled system will allow real-time bus tracking, route updates, and seat availability checks. Women and students will receive smart cards for free or discounted travel, with online recharge options. Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar highlighted that the system aims to improve convenience, transparency, and efficient bus deployment while maintaining welfare schemes.
