NGT Forms Panel to Investigate Alleged Illegal Tree Felling in Madhya Pradesh

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has formed a joint committee to investigate allegations of illegal felling of over 1,242 trees, including teak and satkata, in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram forest division. An inspection report indicated a loss exceeding Rs 2.4 crore to the state. The NGT has issued notices to various state authorities and directed them to submit reports on actions taken against responsible officers within four weeks.
