Senior officials, including Liberal Democratic Party policy chief Takayuki Kobayashi and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, emphasized legal and constitutional constraints, ongoing conflict concerns, and public opposition. Japan currently has no plans to send escort ships but is reviewing options within its legal framework amid its reliance on Middle Eastern oil.
